Data Migration Engineer (Informatica / dbt)
Operations
Mumbai, India
On-site
Full-time
We are looking for a mid-level Data Engineer with 3+ years of experience to help maintain existing Informatica data integration pipelines while leading or assisting in the modern migration to dbt (data build tool) and cloud data platforms. You will bridge traditional ETL architectures with modern analytics engineering best practices
Key Responsibilities
ETL / ELT Development: Design, build, and support data pipelines using Informatica PowerCenter / IDMC (Intelligent Data Management Cloud) and dbt Core/Cloud.
Migration Support: Assist in refactoring and migrating legacy Informatica mappings, workflows, and stored procedures into modular dbt models (SQL/Jinja).
Data Modeling & Transformation: Build clean data warehouse layers (Staging, Intermediate, Marts) using dbt best practices, including incremental materializations, macro development, and snapshots.
Orchestration & Automation: Help orchestrate workflows using tools like Apache Airflow or cloud-native schedulers.
Testing & Data Quality: Implement dbt tests (unique, not_null, accepted_values, custom assertions) and reconcile row counts/data discrepancies between source systems and the target warehouse.
Collaboration & CI/CD: Work with Git/GitHub/GitLab for version control, participating in code reviews and CI/CD deployment pipelines.
Desired Candidate Profile
Experience: 3+ years of total IT/data engineering experience with a strong focus on data integration and warehousing.
Informatica: Hands-on experience with Informatica PowerCenter, IDMC, or PowerCenter designer—building mappings, mapplets, sessions, and workflows.
dbt (Data Build Tool): Practical experience with dbt Core or dbt Cloud (model layering, writing macros, running tests, and incremental updates).
SQL & Python: Advanced SQL skills (complex joins, window functions, CTEs) and working knowledge of Python for scripting or automation.
Cloud Data Warehouses: Exposure to Snowflake, Google BigQuery, or Azure Synapse/Databricks.
Orchestration/DevOps: Familiarity with Apache Airflow, Git-based workflows, and CI/CD concepts
